On July 8, 2025 at 6:30 a.m., from the church in Chamonix, Nathan Fourcy set off alone to complete the Tour du Mont-Blanc. With no assistance, no resupply, and no prior announcement.

On July 10 at 3:37 a.m., he returned to his exact starting point. In between: a raw, long, and demanding crossing. An experience undertaken far from media-driven achievement, and as close to the real as possible.

This adventure gave rise to the film TOUT AUTOUR — Chronicle of a Tour du Mont-Blanc, led by Nathan Fourcy and directed by Jean Meybeck. The public release of the project was also presented as an authentic adventure, built without exaggeration or pressure, with Inspyrations among the project’s supporters.

A commitment, a crossing in step with the rhythm of the massif.

Throughout the route, the mountain sets the rules. Snow, mist, humidity, cold, slippery ground, night frost, then the return of the sun. Nothing is abstract. Nothing is smoothed over. Progress unfolds over time, through constant adaptation, through accepting whatever the terrain decides.

The effort grows harsher. Pain appears in the shins and ankles. Fatigue settles in deeply. At times, even breathing requires full attention. Some sections seem endless. At one point, Nathan says it plainly: “I don’t feel welcome.” And yet, he keeps going.

Maybe that is where true performance begins.

“If you don’t test it, you don’t know.”

This project is built on a simple conviction: in ultra-distance, there is no such thing as theoretical truth. You have to manage your nutrition, adapt your progress to the weather, adjust your pace, deal with the unexpected, and make decisions despite the fatigue. The commitment is not spectacular; it is constant.

But beyond the physical, there is something else.

For hours, alone against the mountain, Nathan moves forward with his thoughts. The effort becomes a form of therapy in motion. Time stretches out. Inner dialogue takes up space. The adventure becomes as much mental as it is athletic.

THE MYTH, LIVED DIFFERENTLY

The Tour du Mont-Blanc carries a unique symbolic weight.

In the world of trail running, it is the ultimate route: a course around the massif that has become legendary, an alpine adventure where grandeur, fatigue, self-transcendence, beauty, and inner intensity all come together. UTMB itself describes it as far more than a race: an introspective adventure along a route of around 170 km and 10,000 m of elevation gain around Mont Blanc, crossing France, Italy, and Switzerland.

Nathan chose to enter it differently.

Not through competition.

Not through confrontation with others.

Not through the event itself.

But through total autonomy, silence, and personal commitment.

That is where his adventure becomes deeply OUTSYDER: taking a world-renowned route, almost sacred within trail culture, and living it outside the established frame. Removing it from the spectacle and bringing it back to what matters most: the mountain, the long stretch of time, solitude, and the truth of effort.

What the mountain gives back

Amid the harshness, there is wonder too.

As the journey unfolds, the massif reveals its beauty. Nathan describes the landscapes as “incredible, paradise-like, magnificent.” When the sun returns, it “lifts the spirit.”

The mountain is not only what puts you to the test.

It is also what reveals.

It asks you to slow down inwardly, to feel more acutely, and to take in the full depth of what you are experiencing.

RYTHM AND RUN

La musique rythme le pas, et compose les passions et la pratique de Nathan. Partie intégrante de son style de vie, de son exigence et ses inspirations.
