THE COLORBLOCK STORY
The 1990s–2000s changed everything.
The boundaries between high alpine environments and board sports disappeared. Disciplines merged, and the energy became hybrid.
Looks grew more radical, drawing from mountaineering. The era of flashy multicolor was over. Style became function.
Design lines were shaped by protection zones. No more than two colors. Strong contrast. Visibility. Safety.
Colorblocking became raw. Essential. Direct.
Culture followed. Films took cues from skateboarding, surfing, and urban life. The sound changed. So did the attitude.
And then the movement reversed: outdoor culture began spilling into the city. The colorblock mountain jacket became a symbol of an alternative outsider culture and made its way onto the stage.

This is not “just” two colors. It is a tribute to a culture.
